Actually I didn't do an upgrade.
I did a clean re-install, and then restored the backed-up configuration.

The only unexpected issue was the fact that the quality graphs did not
come back after I hit the "Reset RRD Data" button.

(Oh and I subsequently converted the RRD data from my backup and
merged it back into the 64-bit install ... contrary to the note in the
link you posted, it *is* possible - it just requires a bit of manual
work)
